Love Nest (1951)STORYLINE:Husband Jim Scott (William Lundigan) comes home from the war, 1946. His wife Connie (June Haver) has invested most of the money that he has sent home to purchase an old (in much need of repairs) apartment building. Jim is expecting a romantic reunion with his wife. However; quickly after his arrival duty calls, that is landlord duties. And the fun begins. CAST:June Haver (Connie Scott); William Lundigan (Jim Scott); Marilyn Monroe (Roberta Stevens); Jack Paar (Ed Forbes). COMMENTS:This is a good feeling movie, a comedy without being screwball. The people are believable and the two main characters are especially likable. There is a flavor of the times 1946: the soldier returning home, the closeness of the daily interactions of people in the apartment building, the clothing styles with women wearing dresses and hats and men in their suits, ties, and hats. Even the black and white film adds a realness of the era. This movie is wholesome, warm and a good story. |
