It's Annette Funicello talking:  "This morning I looked at myself in the mirror and I wanted to scream because I wish I had beautiful features like Debbie Reynolds or Liz Taylor.  So then I picked up the paper and read about a girl just my age who lost an eye in an accident and I felt so ashamed…"  At graduation time, the pert, poised Annette admitted she felt a little sorry for herself: They just  mailed me my diploma.  I had to miss my first prom because I had to work:  took my final exams in

a hotel room all alone."  Tons of pony-tailers would gladly change places with her.  Name up in lights on marquees...her very own white T-Bird...closets full of dreamy  dresses...hit records like "First Name Initial"...fabulous dates---Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Darin, Bobby Rydell, Dick Roman and Paul Anka. 

Annette's romance with Paul Anka was a high spot of the year,  But Annette insists Paul is just a "big brother"  even though they've had many dates.

She admits she's intrigued with Frankie Avalon--"I guess, because I don't know him as well as the other boys."  Annette knows the kind of boy she's looking for:  "He has dark brown hair, is about 5' 11" tall, has a good build and a great smile."  (come to think of it, that's a perfect description of Frankie!)
